What makes the data usable for reporting
Each major CanadaStarter research asset publishes the snapshot date, methodology, assumptions, limitations and primary source directory. Where two official sources conflict or one source does not support a confident universal rule, we label the uncertainty instead of smoothing it away.
Affiliate relationships do not determine the findings or comparison criteria. We do not require payment, a link exchange or editorial approval in return for access to these datasets.
How to cite CanadaStarter
A practical citation is: CanadaStarter, “[research title],” September 2026, [research-page URL]. When reproducing a table or chart derived from the CSV, please identify CanadaStarter as the data compiler and link to the methodology page so readers can inspect the underlying sources.
Research questions, corrections and interviews
If you are working on a story and need clarification about a methodology choice, a source conflict or a data field, use the CanadaStarter contact page. For corrections, include the relevant primary source so the structured dataset can be updated at the source rather than patched on one page.
