Can You Open a BMO Account Before Arriving in Canada?

Current pre-arrival rule
BMO currently allows eligible permanent residents, foreign workers and international students from qualifying countries to open a pre-arrival chequing account when coming to Canada within 12 months. The pre-arrival account is activated in Canada after arrival.

Age requirement
At least 14 years old for the published pre-arrival process.
Country or immigration-status restriction
Applicant must reside in a qualifying country.
Published pre-arrival funding ceiling
The current published pathway allows funding up to $75,000 CAD, subject to the bank’s transfer and application conditions.

Expect an in-Canada activation step
