A $35 phone plan is a $420 annual expense before tax. Comparing yearly totals makes a $5 or $10 monthly difference easier to evaluate and helps separate meaningful savings from marketing noise.
Why a huge data bucket can still be poor value
Cost per advertised gigabyte rewards very large data plans. But if you use 15 GB on a 100 GB plan, the effective cost per gigabyte actually used is much higher than the headline figure. The calculator shows both numbers.
What this calculator does not measure
Coverage quality, 4G versus 5G performance, roaming, Wi-Fi calling, international calling, rollover, customer support and carrier-specific rewards are qualitative factors. Treat the math as one part of the decision.
