Why the activity model is more useful than one “average traveller” number
Maps and messaging can be relatively light, while video, video calls and laptop tethering can dominate a trip’s consumption. The calculator lets readers combine activity assumptions instead of forcing every traveller into one bucket.
How to use the reference
Choose activity levels that resemble your expected trip, multiply the resulting daily estimate by trip length, then add a safety buffer. Use phone Wi-Fi for large app updates, cloud backups and media downloads when practical.
Unlimited still needs a fair-use check
An unlimited label does not guarantee unlimited full-speed data. Some travel eSIMs use daily high-speed allowances and then throttle service. Compare that rule, hotspot support and validity before paying a premium for unlimited.
