Moving from another province or territory

Coverage may begin on the first day of the third month following the month permanent New Brunswick residence is established.

Who may qualify

Permanent resident: Permanent residents establishing their principal home in New Brunswick can apply; arrivals from outside Canada may receive first-day coverage when eligibility is established.
Work permit: Some work permit holders can qualify as residents, but documentation and case-specific eligibility apply. Confirm your permit with Medicare.
International student: Eligible full-time international students can qualify under a specific Medicare program; exchange students, part-time students and some online-study situations are excluded.
Visitor: Tourists, visitors and transients are not eligible.
