How much data for 7 days?
Light: about 1.8 GB before a safety buffer — Maps, messaging, email and light browsing.
Moderate: about 5.3 GB before a safety buffer — Navigation, social media, browsing and some short video.
Heavy: about 10.5 GB before a safety buffer — Frequent social/video use plus hotspot or uploads.
Remote work: about 21.0 GB before a safety buffer — Hotspot use, video calls, cloud files and heavier streaming.
A 20% buffer is useful if you expect navigation-heavy days, hotspot use or cellular photo backup.
Validity can eliminate an otherwise cheap plan
A package that expires before day 7 is not a complete solution unless you plan to top up or buy another package. Compare full-trip cost rather than the lowest entry price.
Price is not the only filter
Check the local network, hotspot policy, high-speed fair-use rules, activation timing and whether you need ordinary voice/SMS. For Canadian travellers, keeping the home SIM active for incoming SMS can also affect the setup.
